⚡ Step-by-Step Booking & Test Day Process

Check Eligibility – Must be at least 17 years old on test day. South African ID required.

Book Your Appointment – Visit your nearest DLTC in person. Some provinces offer online booking via eNaTIS.

Pay the Fee – Fees vary. Keep the receipt as proof of payment.

Eye Test – A quick vision check is done at the centre. You'll read letters from a chart.

Write the Test – 64 multiple-choice questions, 60 minutes. Computerised or paper-based.

Get Your Result – If you pass, you receive a temporary learners licence immediately. The card is mailed within 4–6 weeks.

If You Fail – You must wait at least 7 days before retesting. Use our practice tests to improve!
